Resort Information
Val d'Isere is said to be a great destination for an energetic and entertaining atmosphere. This can usually be found on the wide main street running the length of the town. During the winter ski season Val DíIsere hosts a special night every Thursday during which time they completely pedestrianise the village so that all visitors and villagers can enjoys a night filled with street entertainment, parades, snow and ice sculpting and live band music. On every Monday the market arrives where local cheeses and meats can be bought giving Val díIsere the best of French Culture and modern entertainment.
Val d'Isere is made up of 7 little 'hamlets' :Le Cret, Le Joseray, Le Chatelard, La Legettaz, Le Laisinant, Le Daille and Le Fornet. La Daille and Le Fornet are the largest of these areas, and villages in their own right.
Le Cret
The earliest and most charismatic areas of Val d'Isere. It is sat in the hills between La Daille and the village centre and presents you with amazing views over the Espace Killy. Le Cret is a stylish hamlet with many luxuriously converted farmhouses nestled in its hills.
Le Joseray, La Legettaz and Le Chatelard
They are situated 5 minutes from the centre of the village, through a tunnel that leads from the main roundabout. These areas are all in close proximity to each other and offer mainly apartment accommodation and some luxury chalets. The main advantage of these areas are that they are at the bottom of the valley allowing skiers who stay here the convenience skiing back to their front door, due to the close proximity of Santons piste.

Le Laisinant
Is situated at the top end of Val d'Isere before Le Fornet. Recently the Laisiant Express chairlift was built and opened in 2005. This chairlift takes skiers to the very top of Solaise and Le Fornet skiing areas. Once again Le Laisinant allows skiers and boarders to ski back to their door, snow permitting.
La Daille
Is situated just before entering Val díIsere village and is mainly made up of high rise apartment blocks. La Daille offers only budget accommodation but with only a 2 minute walk to the slopes and the entire Espace Killy lift system, it still has huge advantages.
Le Fornet
Is just 5kmís beyond Val díIsere and is the most beautiful and quiet hamlet of them all. is the beautiful quiet little hamlet of 'Le Fornet'. Chalets here tend to me more traditional but expensive and follow the Savoyard style. During the winter season Le Fornet offers the best off piste skiing around, when the Col d'Iseran is covered in snow it gives experienced skiers and snowboarders a range of gullies and bowls to challenge.
Le Fornet also offers visitors the only glacier skiing in Val d'Isere at 3400m. Le Fornet offers over in the region of 1500m of vertical descent. It has been said that the hamlet of Le Fornet is one of Val d'Isere's best secrets.
